Concept to Consumer Capstone Class

Brand: Ellie Day

Objective: Designing Women’s Active Wear as an expansion for the 2024 collection. In this year-long capstone course, four teams of eight students competed for the designs to be selected and produced. Each member of the team collaborated across cross-functional teams including: three designers and five merchandisers. The directive from Ellie was to expand her brand by designing new patterns for her line, accessories, and a potential print. Using research from competing brands, interviews, and searching what is missing in the current market, my team was able to design a product line that used color and style choices to match the Ellie Day’s personal aesthetic.

Design Solutions Course: DEI Assignment

Brand: Joe and Bella

Objective: Design solutions for the adaptive brand Joe and Bella, with a focus on their consumers who are wheelchair users. Directly from the design team of Joe and Bella we were challenged with bringing adaptive garment ideas come to life, using the brands “care zip” pants as inspiration. These pants that the brand has proudly patented, have a zipper in the crotch area making it very adaptable to wheelchair users. The brands intention is to pick up an adaptive idea and bring it onto their line. Our professor divided the class into three teams to help produce three different ideas. In these different groups our professor directed each group as one being outdoor apparel, sleep wear, and a top. From this point we were able to research other brands, conduct interviews with real consumers, and directly search the problem within our assigned category of apparel design.
